Black Tesla Model 3
Paint Correction
&
Ceramic Coating

This vehicle was very unique as it had PPF on it, we'll explain what that is and more below and how it affects Paint Correction and the Ceramic Coating processes.

PPF, or paint protection film, is a clear plastic that goes all over the paint of the vehicle to protect from rock chips and scratches. It is VERY effective at protecting the vehicle. In this particular case, the entire vehicle was wrapped in the film and it had a different benefit to it. The benefit was that it produces a matt look on the vehicle without actually having to change the paint. It's similar to putting a filter on social media.

There are only a few cons with regards to film. Pricing on it can be quite high. Full car wrapping can range from 5 to 15 thousand dollars. A cheaper wrap may come from the pre-cut film but with the lower cost in the price, you sacrifice the seamless look. With pre-cut film, there are edges that are highly visible showing where the film ends and begins. The other con is that there are no aesthetic benefits. Paint is not enhanced nor is there increased gloss as with a Ceramic Coating. If protection is your number one priority, then it is the way to go. Unfortunately, there are no shops in El Paso that do it without the pre-cut film, so you would have to go out of town to get the custom and seamless perfect job.

If there are all these benefits and very little cons, some people wonder why add a Ceramic Coating? The answer is that, with or without the film on there, the Ceramic Coating will greatly enhance the look of the car PLUS provide all its usual benefits on top of the film. It's not uncommon to have both PPF and a Ceramic Coating on a truly beautiful vehicle if the buyer's budget allows for it. In this case with the matte look. the Ceramic Coating deepens the darks and increases the depth of the look. It won't make it look shiny but rather provide a richer and more full matte look.

Moving back to the job at hand, cleaning the vehicle was very easy as the bugs and dirt came off very easily with very little clay necessary. After a short while, it was prepped and ready for the Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating.

Depending on the wrap used, a simple splash of hot water or a light polish is all that's needed to correct the vehicle. Any more aggressive form of Paint Correction other than that might distort or harm the film. The vehicle was corrected in only a few passes with no swirls, trails or hazing left behind. After wiping off all residual polish, the only big step left was to apply the Ceramic Coating.

The entire car was prepped with IGL Pre-coat to make sure there was absolutely nothing left on the paint. We gave the vehicle one coat of the base layer and two hours later gave it its topcoat. The Ceramic Coating process itself can be very time-consuming. A sedan this size can easily take 5+ hours from pre-coat to the final layer of the Ceramic Coating being wiped off.

After giving the owners the do's and don'ts of Ceramic Coatings, the car was ready for the photoshoot. Thanks to Paint Correction the car is now scratch free and has a mirror finish. They also have UV protection, heat protection, scratch resistance, anti-fouling, and much more thanks to the 4-year Ceramic Coating.
