Ceramic Coating Mercedes in El Paso

Paint Correction

Ceramic Coating

This was one of our first E-class vehicles to have a Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating package.

This vehicle is pre-owned but fairly well taken care of. It had a lot of swirls but only a few scratches and very few that were deep. The owner wanted to get all those imperfections out and protect it for many years to come. So naturally, we came to Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating as the solution. The interior also needed a bit of work as it hadn't been cleaned in a while and some of the floor mats had gum on them.

This was a mobile service in the customer's driveway from very early in the morning till the evening. The first step to work on was the interior. Vacuum, shampoo, stain removal, leather cleaning, and leather conditioning were the steps taken to get it looking brand new again. The item that took the most time to get correct was the gum stuck in the floor mat. With some secret sauce and some elbow grease, the gum came out completely. The interior was ready to be closed up and Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating are next!

The wash and cleaning phase of the job took quite a while as the car was driven back from Dallas without any sort of wash in between. Thousands of bugs on the glass and entire front of the car. After about 2 hours of claying the vehicle, it was finally completely clean. It did take more time than most cars for the cleaning faze, but all that was left was for it to be prepped and ready for the Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating.

Mercedes has one of our favorite hardness strengths for paint. It's not as hard as a Chevy but nowhere near as soft as an Audi or Tesla. A light polishing pad and medium compound were all that was needed to remove all minor scratches and even a few big ones. Being a fairly new vehicle and well taken care of, the Paint Correction was done in only a few passes with no swirls, trails, or hazing left behind. After wiping off all residual polish, the only big step left was to apply the Ceramic Coating.

Now that the Paint Correction process is out of the way, we begin the Ceramic Coating step. The entire car was prepped with IGL Pre-coat to make sure there was absolutely nothing left on the paint. We gave the vehicle one coat of the base layer and two hours later gave it its topcoat. The Ceramic Coating process itself can be very time consuming if it is to be done correctly. A sedan this size can easily take 5+ hours from pre-coat to the final layer of the Ceramic Coating being wiped off. Any company able to do multiple layers of a Ceramic Coating in under 4 hours is either not waiting long enough between coats, not doing all the coats they say they are or simply using inferior products.

After giving the owners the do's and don'ts of Ceramic Coatings, the car was ready for the photoshoot. Thanks to Paint Correction the car is now scratch-free and has a mirror finish. They also have UV protection, heat protection, scratch resistance, anti-fouling, and much more thanks to the 4-year Ceramic Coating.
